摘　　要：我从小就热衷于古代文明和考古学,这一点在我不得不或者说被允许选专业时也没有改变。因此,我在维也纳大学攻读了东方考古学和闪族文献学博士学位,并有机会留下来任教。在我看来,人类交往的主要模式至今依然是冲突和贸易。另外,超越不同研究领域和机构的界限很重要,因为学科之间比合作看起来更加紧密地交织在一起。因此,我很快就参与了一些研究,其中包括古典考古学和东方考古学、闪族文献学和普通语言学、史前史和早期历史或古代史、埃及学、宗教研究,以及人文科学和自然科学的其他学科。我主要在地中海东部地区,特别是中东地区进行研究和调查。I was interested in ancient civilizations and archaeology from an early age,and that didn't change when I had to or was allowed to choose my course of study after school.So,I completed my doctorate in Oriental Archaeology and Semitic Philology at the University of Vienna,where I had the opportunity to teach afterward.For me,the significant patterns of human interaction still prevail today-conflict and trade.On the other hand,it was important to me to look beyond the boundaries of separate research areas and institutions because the subjects were more closely interwoven than their collaboration often seemed.Thus,I was soon involved in projects that included classical and oriental archaeology,Semitic philology and general linguistics,prehistory and early history or ancient history,Egy ptology,religious studies,and other subjects in the humanities and natural sciences.These took me on excavations and surveys mainly to the regions of the eastern Mediterranean,especially the Middle East.
