摘　　要：《克兰福镇》是英国十九世纪著名作家伊丽莎白·盖斯凯尔的代表作。在《克兰福镇》中,作者描写了英格兰西北部的一个普通城镇,通过一些生活项事,展现出这个偏小镇的风俗人情。In the first place,Cranford is in possession of the Amazons;all the holders of houses above a certain rent are women.If a married couple come to settle in the town,somehow the gentleman disappears;he is either fairly frightened to death by being the only man in the Cranford evening parties,or he is accounted for by being with his regiment,his ship,or closely engaged in business all the week in the great neighbouring commercial town of Drumble,distant only twenty miles on a railroad.
