摘　　要：冈仓天心用英文撰写了三部介绍日本乃至东方艺术的理论著作,即《东洋的理想》《日本的觉醒》和《茶之书》。《东洋的理想》论述东方尤其是日本的艺术史整体,《日本的觉醒》论述日本的近代史整体,而《茶之书》则从“茶”这个看似很小的主题出发,展开了冈仓自身的文明论。虽然冈仓最初吸收了黑格尔“象征型-古典型-浪漫型”的艺术史观,但他却并未陷入到西方中心主义的历史图式中,而是将日本的明治维新视作欧洲的文艺复兴,在东方文化内部寻找近代化的动力,并通过印度“吠檀多学派”的学说“不二一元论”来说明日本文化的特质,通过道家思想中的“生活之术”来阐释东方美学的特点。冈仓所具备的这种在西方思想中找到将东方传统思想激活的触媒的能力,正是我们今天建构“东方美学”时必不可少的。Okakura Kakuzo is a renowned philosopher in Japan.He has written three theoretical works in English introducing Japanese and Eastern art,namely The Ideals of The East,The Awakening of Japan and The Book of Tea.The Ideals of the East discusses the overall history of Eastern,especially Japanese art.The Awakening of Japan discusses the overall modern history of Japan,while The Book of Tea starts with the seemingly small topic of tea and unfolds Okakura's own theory of civilization.Although Okakura initially absorbed Hegel's theory of art history,which is characterized by the progression of symbolic,classical,and romantic art,he did not fall into the Western-centrism's historical paradigm.Instead,he regarded Japan's Meiji Restoration as Europe's Renaissance and sought the driving force of modernization within Eastern culture.He explained the characteristics of Japanese culture through the doctrine of'Advaita Vedanta'from India,and interpreted the characteristics of Eastern aesthetics through the Taoist concept of'the art of living'.Okakura's ability to activate traditional Eastern thought within Western thinking is essential in constructing'Eastern Aesthetics'for today.
