摘　　要：《格萨尔王传》主要描述了雄狮国王格萨尔南征北战,降妖伏魔,最终重返天国的故事,是一部少有的“活性态史诗”,这部集藏族千年记忆的史诗为读者展现了古代藏族社会的各个方面,主要由散文和唱词构成。英语民谣作为短小的叙事诗,和《格萨尔王传》中的唱词有异曲同工之妙。本文试图从英语民谣入手,分析这部世界上最长的史诗的唱词部分,不仅是为了更加深入地分析翻译技巧,更是为了加深对这部史诗的理解,为之后进一步外译做铺垫。Epic of Gesar of Ling,as a rarely seen“living”epic,mainly depicts the king’s war against demons and his return to the Heaven.The epic,composed of poses and verses,pictures the ancient Tibetan society.Additionally,English ballads are short narrative poems,which share similarities with Gesar of Ling.The author tries to analyze the verses of the epic from the perspective of ballads to probe deeper into this epic and prepare for future translation.
