摘 要:Lignosus rhinocerus is a highly valued medicinal mushroom traditionally consumed by the indigenous communities of Southeast Asia as treatment for numerous ailments,some of which are linked to its antioxidative activities.While the antioxidative capacity of L.rhinocerus has been established in vitro,lack of translational studies are available on the effect of L.rhinocerus in the pathogenesis of diseases driven by high oxidative stress.This study aims to investigate the in vivo antioxidative effects of cultivated Lignosus rhinocerus(TM02®)sclerotia in a multifaceted in vivo model of oxidative stress,induced by chronic hyperglycemia associated with diabetes.A type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)rodent model was generated using a high-fat diet in combination with low dose streptozotocin after which TM02®cultivar,at a dose of 200 mg/kg,was administered orally for 14 days.Diabetic rats treated with TM02®cultivar had decreased plasma AGEs concentration,complemented with improved mitochondrial respiratory function associated with elevated cardiac and skeletal muscle ATP concentrations in both diabetic and non diabetic rats.Interestingly,TM02®cultivar-treated rats have improved glycemic control,with the potential ability to induce insulin secretion.Our findings revealed that TM02®exhibits antioxidative effects to potentially alleviate diabetes-related complications associated with AGEs accumulation,with significant effects in enhancing mitochondrial function and energy production.
