规范制约下的译者主体性发挥——以刘宇昆成功英译《三体》为例

摘　　要：翻译规范是描述性翻译研究中的重要概念。通过借助图里的翻译规范理论对《三体》英译本进行分析,在此基础上探究译者刘宇昆在翻译中对源语与译入语文化的平衡方法以及对原文本和翻译策略的选择。研究发现,规范制约下译者主体性的充分发挥是《三体》成功背后的根本原因之一,译者在翻译过程中对东西方文化冲突的巧妙处理提高了译作在英语世界的接受度,其科幻作家与海外华人的双重身份为译作的海外传播保驾护航,其在译文中对原文宏观结构与微观表达的重新考虑又保障了译作的质量。Toury’s translation norms are essential concepts in descriptive translation studies.Based on these concepts,this study analyzes the translation of The Three-Body Problem,in which Ken Liu tactfully dealt with the differences between the source and target culture by his appropriate choices of translation strategies.It is found that his subjectivity as a translator plays a key role in his successful translation.To be specific,Liu’s reconsideration of the textual structure and expression in the source text ensures the translation quality,his consideration of both the source and target culture guarantees the oversea acceptance of The Three-Body Problem,and his status of a professional science fiction writer and an ethnic Chinese attracts oversea readers of the work,which resulted in popularity of the English translation.
