摘　　要：围绕羊皮纸(parchment)这一词汇的语义变迁展开讨论,包括羊皮纸的起源、制作过程、在西方世界的传播与应用,并与烘焙纸(parchment paper)进行语义辨析。从公元前二世纪的发明开始,羊皮纸在西方世界迅速传播,并成为主流书写材料。然而,随着社会变迁和新技术的出现,羊皮纸工业逐渐衰落,最终退出了主流的书写材料舞台。在此过程中,羊皮纸(parchment)这一词汇的语义范畴发生了变化,扩大到类似羊皮纸的更大范畴,并与烘焙纸(parchment paper)的定义产生混淆。经过对语义变迁的分析,可以发现“parchment”这一词汇由专指羊皮所制纸张引申至包括羊皮纸和类似羊皮纸的大范畴,其变迁时间或早于“parchment paper”词汇复合时间。这一过程符合“范畴化——非范畴化——再范畴化”模式,展现了词义的动态演变过程。The semantic change of the term parchment is discussed,including the origin,production process,spread and application of parchment in the Western world,and semantic analysis with parchment paper.Beginning with its invention in the second century BC,parchment paper spread rapidly in the Western world and became the mainstream writing material.However,with social changes and the emergence of new technologies,the parchment industry gradually declined and eventually withdrew from the mainstream writing materials.During this process,the semantic scope of the term parchment changed,expanding to a larger category of parchment or parchment-like paper,and creating confusion with the definition of parchment paper.After analyzing the semantic change,it can be found that the term"parchment"from the exclusive reference to the paper made of sheepskin to include parchment and parchment-like paper in the broader scope of the change may be earlier than"parchment paper".This process is consistent with"categorization"This process is consistent with the pattern ofcategorization-de-categorization-re-categorization",which demonstrates the dynamic evolution of lexical meaning.
