摘　　要：杜亚泉是近代著名出版家、思想家、教育家、翻译家、编纂家,20世纪科学先驱。杜亚泉一生鞠躬尽瘁,致力于“为国家谋文化上之建设”,对近代中国的科学、文化、教育、出版等事业做出了巨大贡献。杜亚泉担任商务印书馆编译所理化部主任28年,主编《东方杂志》9年,其科学救国、教育救国理想的施展,其关于中西文化关系等主要洞见的发表,均是以商务印书馆为中心舞台展开的。相对于篇幅宏富的杜亚泉思想研究,有关杜亚泉生平主要活动以及对商务印书馆企业发展的历史贡献的研究不多;其凄凉晚景,亦构成学界不大不小的历史公案,有关史实亦值得进一步厘清。本文对杜亚泉先生的生平史事及历史贡献做一点考订,亦藉以为相关研究提供更为明晰的史事背景。Du Yaquan was a prominent modern publisher,thinker,educator,translator,editor,and a scientific pioneer of the 20th century.Throughout his life,Du Yaquan was dedicated to“the cultural development of the nation”,making significant contributions to the advancement of science,culture,education,and publishing in modern China.He had served as the director of the Physics and Chemistry Department at the Compilation and Translation Office of The Commercial Press for 28 years and been the chief editor of The Eastern Miscellany for 9 years.His aspira-tions for saving the nation through science and education,as well as his key insights into the rela-tionship between Chinese and Western cultures,were primarily realized through his work at The Commercial Press.While extensive research has been conducted on Du Yaquan's ideas,studies on his life and his historical contributions to the development of The Commercial Press have been relatively limited.His tragic later years also remain an unresolved historical issue,with related facts yet to be clarified.This article aims to investigate Du Yaquan's life and his historical contri-butions,providing a clear historical context for further research.
