摘　　要：古代武冈重要的战略地位与“梅山峒瑶”的区域移动有着密切的内在联系。东汉至五代时期,“梅山峒瑶”主要生活在武陵山脉和资江流域中下游,并未与资江上游的武冈地区发生太多接触。宋代开始,“梅山峒瑶”频频冲击武冈,章惇开梅山后,瑶民更是纷纷迁往资江上游和西南地区,其战略地位开始受到宋廷重视,武冈由县升格为军。到元代,武冈的战略地位得到进一步提升,成为中央王朝控扼、镇压湘西南少数民族起义的军事重镇,同时也成为湘西南各族人民反元的重要基地。但随着明代“梅山峒瑶”区域移动的终止,武冈行政区划则降格为州,开始回归与其经济、地理条件相适应的地位。The critical strategic position of Wugang in ancient times was closely tied to the regional movement of the“Meishan Dongyao”.From the Eastern Han Dynasty(25-220)to the Five Dynasties(907-960),the“Meishan Dongyao”primarily resided in the Wuling Mountains and the middle to lower reaches of the Zijiang River Basin,maintaining minimal contact with Wugang,located in the river’s upper reaches.However,during the Song Dynasty,the“Meishan Dongyao”launched frequent attacks on Wugang.Following Zhang Dun’s governance of Meishan,the Yao people migrated upstream to the southwest area of the river basin.Consequently,Wugang’s strategic position gained recognition from the Song court,elevating from a county-level to a prefecture-level administrative region.By the time of the Yuan Dynasty,Wugang held an even more significant strategic role,functioning as a military area under central control to suppress the rebellion in southwestern Hunan and serving as a vital base for local resistance against the rule of the Yuan Dynasty.Nevertheless,with the conclusion of the“Meishan Dongyao”regional movement during the Ming Dynasty,Wugang was downgraded to a town,adapting to its economic and geographical circumstances.
