Eighty patients who had completed gastroscopy due to upper gastrointestinal bleeding were selected and divided into two groups:the emergency group(40 cases)and the elective group(40 cases). The baseline data of both groups were compared, and the diagnostic rates of causes, hemostatic success rates, clinical transfusion rates, hospitalization costs, and length of stay were analyzed. The results showed that the average age of patients in the emergency group was significantly younger than that in the elective group.Additionally, the hemoglobin levels in the emergency group were significantly higher than those in the elective group. The diagnostic rate of causes for upper gastrointestinal bleeding was also higher in the emergency group compared to the elective group.Furthermore, the emergency group had significantly fewer days of hospitalization and lower hospitalization costs than the elective group, with a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P<0.01).In conclusion, emergency gastroscopy demonstrates a significant advantage in the diagnostic rate for causes of upper gastrointestinal bleeding,as well as lower hospitalization costs and shorter length of stay. Therefore,it is worth promoting in clinical practice.
