With the rapid development of digital economy, internet use has become a new engine of social development, which has a profound impact on family income structure. The present study, based on the microdata from the China Family Panel Studies(CFPS)in 2020,employs quantile regression analysis to examine the impact of internet use on households across different income quantiles and explores the heterogeneity of this impact. The study finding shows that internet use has a significant role in enhancing the income of low-income households, while its effect on middle and high-income households is relatively limited.Moreover,urban-rural and regional disparities significantly influence the economic effects of the internet.Compared to rural and central and western regions, urban and eastern region households benefit more from the development of the internet. This research not only provides a new perspective on the role of the internet across different income levels of households but also offers policy recommendations for bridging the digital divide and promoting economic equality.
