书籍史视角下明末清初耶稣会士与士大夫的科技协作  

The Collaboration of Science and Technology between Jesuits and Chinese Scholars in the Late Ming and Early Qing Dynasties:From the Perspective of the History of the Book

摘  要:明末清初耶稣会士和中国士大夫基于各自的文化诉求在科技领域内实现了某种协作,而中西士合作撰写的大量科技书籍则构成了中西科技首次大规模交流的重要成果。从聚焦于合撰科技著述的书写条件和知识生产观的书籍史视角来看,一方面,耶稣会士将西方科技作为在华传教的重要凭借,通过选择性输入将西方科技负载神学价值,并通过比附儒学进行文化适应;另一方面,中国士大夫则将西方科技纳入儒家体系再理解,在比较与补充心态下尝试将传统科技学理化。由此,以“知识阶层”形象在华立足的耶稣会士与中国士大夫凭借科技著述达成了某种利益同盟,共同推动了明末清初中西科技的交流。In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties,the Jesuits and Chinese scholars collaborated in the field of science and technology based on their own cultural aspirations,and the large number of scientific and technological books written by them constituted an important result of the first large-scale exchange between Chinese and Western science and technology.From the perspective of the writing conditions and knowledge production of the co-authored scientific and technological works,on the one hand,the Jesuits took Western science and technology as an important basis for missionary work in China,loaded Western science and technology with theological values through selective importation,and made cultural adaptation by comparing it with Confucianism;on the other hand,the Chinese scholars incorporated Western science and technology into the Confucian system and tried to theorize traditional science and technology under a comparative and complementary mentality.Thus,the Jesuits and the Chinese scholars,who had a foothold in China as the"intellectual class",reached a certain alliance of interests by virtue of their scientific and technological writings,and jointly promoted the exchange of Western and Chinese science and technology in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.
