There are various types of hepatobiliary diseases, among which many critical diseases getting limited therapeutic effects after routine treatment need new treatment methods, especially for those involving metabolism, consumption, and other issues. As a common gene editing techniques,CRISPR/Cas9 has the advantages of simple principle, convenient and flexible operation, which can satisfy the genetic research requirements of hepatobiliary diseases. In recent years, many research results using CRISPR/Cas9 to study the treatment of hepatobiliary diseases have emerged, many of which related to difficult and complex diseases.By reviewing relevant research in the past 10 years, the advantages and potential of gene editing technology are described and analyzed from the perspectives of multiple liver and gallbladder surgical diseases in this review,so as to provide reference for the realization of applying gene editing on a large scale in clinical practice in the future.
