摘　　要：美国当代畅销书作家莎拉·格鲁恩在其小说《大象的眼泪》中讲述了美国一个大马戏团中人和动物之间跌宕起伏的故事。在这个马戏团中,有人虐待动物成为“动物杀手”最终却也被动物所杀,也有人选择用自己的方式去关爱动物并在最后获得了意外的好运……人与动物之间到底如何相处以及为何人类会因为自身的行为而招致灾难,人类中心主义是否永远会最大化人类利益,这些既是生态主义理论所分析的重点,也是莎拉·格鲁恩在这部小说中想要探讨的问题。Contemporary best-selling American author Sarah Gruen tells the story of the ups and downs between humans and animals in a large American circus in her novel Water for Elephants.In this circus,some people mistreat animals and become“animal killers”who are ultimately killed by them,while others choose to care for animals in their own way and ultimately gain unexpected good luck...How do humans get along with animals and why do humans suffer disasters due to their own actions?Will anthropocentrism always maximize human interests?These are not only the foci of ecological theory analysis,but also the questions that Sarah Gruen wants to explore in this novel.
