Since the rise of the Mongols in the 13th century altered not only the global landscape but also China's global status and its relationship with the rest of the world,it is regarded as a pivotal point in the overall unfolding of global history and the mutual exchanges of different civilizations. The 13th-14th centuries witnessed the emergence of a great many Silk Road travelogues, surpassing the total number of those of the past nine centuries from the Han to the Song dynasties. This paper emphasizes the timeframe of“the 13th-14th centuries”as an attempt to break the confinement of national dynasties, observing Chinese literature of this period from a perspective of“the reciprocal observation between the East and the West”in a global context. As a typical literary mirror reflection of this era,Silk Road travelogues not only demonstrate the global attentionand the mirror reflection of China as the beautiful Eastern regional culture but also showcase China's tolerance and acceptance of foreign civilizations, featuring the multilingual communication and mutual expression of Silk Road culture. In terms of writing, the Silk Road travelogues of the 13th-14th centuries had a lot of nouns and information which lost their original connotation when disenchanting the relevant knowledge. In the meantime, they reflected translators'intellectual dimensionswhile embodying readers'psychological mapping based on their local cultural backgrounds. It is precisely because of the literary mirror reflection of Silk Road travelogues in the 13th-14th centuries that they are of an indelible and indispensable significance in the rebuilding of Eastern and Western civilizations.
