摘 要:本研究基于较大批量文本和多种特征类型,借助多维度分析方法考察英文研究论文摘要特征的学科差异。结果显示,摘要呈现显著学科差异,集中体现于5个功能维度,依次是聚焦“人”或“物”、语气强化或命题直叙、认识情态意义拓展、信息密度、以及学术交互或流程描述。各个功能维度及其显著特征,深度反映不同学科论文摘要的话语焦点、论述策略与交际意图,体现学科知识凝练的特有认识视角与路径。This study explores the disciplinary variation of research article(RA)abstracts through a multi-dimensional analysis based on a relatively large number of texts and a wide range of linguistic features.The results show significant disciplinary variation in the use of clusters of specific linguistic features in RA abstracts across the fields of physics,history,materials science,management,and applied linguistics,which primarily reflects five functional dimensions,namely“human focus vs.non-human focus”,“persuasive intensification vs.narrative directness”,“extension of epistemic modality”,“information density”,and“academic involvement vs.procedural description”.Each functional dimension along with the included salient features clearly manifests the unique discourse focus,argumentative strategies,and communicative purposes incorporated in RA abstracts of different disciplines,indicating the distinctive epistemological views and approaches in their disciplinary knowledge encapsulation.The results further reveal that except for the first functional dimension“human focus vs.non-human focus”presenting a certain distinction between soft and hard,as well as pure and applied disciplines,the remaining functional dimensions do not exhibit similar discernible patterns.This indicates that while disciplinary orienta-tion and knowledge generally have clear boundaries and evaluation criteria,the nature of disciplinary academic discourse and its linguistic realizations are more complex and nuanced,requiring a detailed description and interpretation of actual language use.
