摘　　要：“Cough!Cough!Cough...doctor,I have been coughing for a long time.I have taken anti-inflammatory drugs and cough suppressants,but my cough has not stopped.”This is the most common patient request heard by respiratory physicians in the outpatient department.Coughing is a common respiratory symptom,and frequent coughing affects patients’ability to work and rest.Severe coughing may lead to urinary incontinence,fainting,rib fracture,pneumothorax,and other diseases.Long-term coughing causes serious disturbances and may even become a point of contention for patients.Here,we will improve our understanding of the chronic cough and what can be done about it.
