摘　　要：有别于欧美世界中的“文明”论,中华文明自有一套话语体系和叙事传统。以“文质之辨”为中心的中华文明叙事不仅意在描述夏商周三代历史的流变,也以一种哲学的方式考察了文明演进的内在逻辑。这种具有思辨性的“文质”视角,还通过对具体礼“文”背后文明精神的揭示,启示了中华文明现代性议题的展开。儒家的“文质之辨”由历史叙事与文学修辞展开,在对三代文明与文明流变的哲学审思中,还兼顾了个体的道德涵养。文明、叙事与德性问题的交叉,既彰显出中华文明的特点,也蕴含了一条以人为中心的现代性进路。由“文质之辨”展开的“改文从质”说和“文质彬彬”观,不仅提供了一个来自中华文明的现代化反思视角,更以中庸之道指示了“中国式”现代化中“文”“质”新义的探究。Unlike the concept of"civilization"in the Euro-American context,Chinese civilization has its own distinct discur-sive system and narrative tradition.The narrative surrounding Chinese civilization,centered on the debate between Wen(refine-ment)and Zhi(substance),not only seeks to describe the historical transitions of the Three Dynasties(Xia,Shang,and Zhou)but also philosophically examines the internal logic of civilizational evolution.This speculative inquiry into Wen and Zhi further illu-minates the issue of modernity within Chinese civilization by revealing the civilizational spirit behind specific ceremonial practices.Within this framework,the Confucian discourse on Wen and Zhi traverses historical narratives and literary rhetoric,providing a phil osophical reflection on the civilization of the Three Dynasties and its transformations,while emphasizing individual moral cultivation.The intersection of civilization,narrative,and virtue underscores the unique characteristics of Chinese civilization and suggests a hu-man-centered approach to modernity.The concepts of gai Wen cong Zhi(reforming Wen to align with Zhi)and Wen Zhi binbin(the harmony of Wen and Zhi),derived from the debate,not only offer a perspective for rethinking modernization through the lens of Chinese civilization but also,through the doctrine of the mean,inspire a re-examination of the meanings of Wen and Zhi in the context of Chinese-style modernization.
