“局中人”抑或“局外人”:艺术生产理论中的“大众”角色

摘　　要：随着19世纪以来的社会文化变迁,艺术生产理论不断焕发新机,呈现出多角度、多样态、多趋向的发展态势。在工具理性盛行、日常生活审美化的背景下,本雅明、阿多诺等学者重新阐发了艺术生产理论,并围绕“大众”这一概念展开讨论,在外倾与内倾的趋向上发展为“大众”的存在背景以及身份为何的问题,即“大众”在文化发展中是受制于文化工业的“局中人”,还是具有主体能动性的“局外人”的问题。法兰克福学派与伯明翰学派、本雅明与阿多诺、鲍德里亚与马克思在“大众”问题上理论对话,从文化生产机制、意识形态批判、符号消费三个维度揭示了“新大众”角色的复杂性,为我们应对文化同质化、技术权力操控等当代挑战,重新审视媒介时代大众文化发展趋势以及重塑大众主体性提供了重要借鉴。In response to the social and cultural changes since the 19th and 20th centuries,the theory of art production has continuously radiated new branches and presented a development trend of multiple angles,multiple forms and trends.Against the background of the prevalence of instrumental rationality and the aestheticization of daily life,scholars such as Benjamin and Adorno re-explained the theory of art production and discussed the concept of“masses”.The discussion developed from the tendency of extroversion and introversion to the question of the existence background and identity of“masses”,that is,whether“masses”are“insiders”subject to the cultural industry in cultural development,or“outsiders”with subjective initiative.Against the background of the cultural turn,three typical theoretical dialogues from the Frankfurt School to the Birmingham School,Benjamin and Adorno,and Baudrillard and Marx revealed the complexity of the role of“new masses”from the three dimensions of cultural production mechanism,ideological criticism and symbolic consumption,which provided important reference for us to deal with contemporary challenges such as cultural homogenization and technological power manipulation,re-examine the development trend of mass culture in the media era and reshape the subjectivity of the masses.
