摘 要:At the end of 2017, research revealed that herbal remedies containing aristolochic acid may cause liver cancer. This triggered a wide debate on ‘poison' in traditional Chinese medicine. The popular TV show A Bite of China 3 also put the safety issue of traditional Chinese medicines as tonic food in the spotlight of public opinion. In fact, there are many misunderstandings about poison in descriptions of food safety and medicine safety on the internet and WeChat. From the perspective of science communication, our understanding of poison and its uses should transcend the monism of Western science.
