摘 要:哥伦比亚大学(简称“哥大”)是美国最早开设中文课程的大学之一。在百余年的发展过程中,哥伦比亚大学中文部在课程建设方面一直在探索创新,不断推出适应时代和学生需求的课程,比如专用汉语。文章首先回顾哥大东亚语言文化系的建系历史,然后介绍哥大中文项目的现状,最后以哥大商务汉语系列课程为例,介绍并分析专用汉语课程的设计理念。此外,文章还将介绍哥大的“商务汉语学习+实习”的海外留学项目,探讨如何实现学以致用的教学总目标。Columbia University stands as one of the earliest American universities to offer Chinese language courses.Over the course of more than a century,the Chinese Department at Columbia University has continually explored innovative approaches to curriculum development,introducing courses that cater to the needs of contemporary times and students,such as specialized Business Chinese.This paper begins with a retrospective examination of the establishment of the East Asian Studies at Columbia University,followed by an overview of the current status of the Chinese program.Subsequently,the paper takes the Columbia Business Chinese series as a case study,presenting and analyzing the design philosophy behind this series of courses.Additionally,this paper introduces Columbia’s overseas study program that combines Business Chinese learning with internships,exploring how the educational objectives of theory-to-practice can be achieved.
