摘　　要：夏鼐的一生与中国考古学的学科发展密切地联系在一起。不管是高校考古专业的筹建和考古人才的培养、考古专门刊物的创办及考古学会的创立,还是规划考古学科的主攻课题并不断阐释考古学科的内涵,都关乎新中国考古学科建设,也关乎新中国考古工作的发展全局。夏鼐充分认识到这些工作的必要性与重要性,并身体力行。认识和评价夏鼐的学术体系及贡献,不能仅局限于他自己的著述,而必须与他直接领导或指导下展开的全部工作结合起来分析。这些工作是以夏鼐为代表的老一辈考古学家致力于完善中国考古学科体系、不断推进中国考古学术研究水平和国际影响力的具体体现。Xia Nai's life is closely intertwined with the development of the discipline of archaeology in China.His contributions encompass various aspects,including the establishment of archaeology programs in universities,the training of archaeologists,the founding of professional archaeological journals,and the creation of archaeological societies.He played a significant role in planning key research topics for archaeology and continuously interpreting the discipline's connotations,all of which pertain to the construction of archaeology in New China and the broader development of archaeological work in the country.Xia Nai recognized the necessity and importance of these efforts and actively engaged in them.To understand and evaluate Xia Nai's academic system and contributions,one must analyze his work in conjunction with the various initiatives he directly led or guided,rather than limiting the assessment to his own writings.These initiatives represent the efforts of Xia Nai and his contemporaries,the older generation of archaeologists,to enhance the disciplinary system of archaeology in China and to advance the level of archaeological research and its international influence.
