区域史研究的层级——兼谈全球史视域中的江南史研究

摘　　要：人类历史有多重面相,大大小小,虚虚实实,势必要求史家具备观察和建构的多重视域、格局、径向。为此,理想的史学研究可以分成经验的、方法的、思想的几个层级,以达到高屋建瓴地从全局把握历史脉络的目标。这种理念下的区域史研究,通常从“微观”的实证研究发端,在“中观”环节运用各种提炼、提升的方法,如经典的“施坚雅模式”便是有效地将文献信息整理为分析层级的一个典范,以期达致“宏观”上的整体呈现。时下,全球史的观念、视野、路数影响到各个史学研究领域,区域史也概莫能外。而致力于区域史研究的进一步提升,有价值的工作的一个重要指向是在思想的高度上进行整体性的俯瞰,并且纳入全球范围的观察和分析架构内。对长期作为显学的明清江南史的重新审视,可为区域史和更一般意义上的史学研究的进展提供一个具有普遍性的学理样本。Human history has manifold facets,large and small,fictional and real,which inevitably requires historians to observe and construct it from multiple areas,patterns,and routes.Therefore,ideal historical research can be divided into several levels:historiographical,methodological,and intellectual,so as to achieve the goal of grasping the historical trajectory from a strategic vantage point.Under this idea,the study of regional history starts from“micro”empirical evidences.The intermediate level involves summarizing and analyzing approaches,and the classical“Skinnerian Model”is such one of effectively processing documentary information into basic analytic-level case patterns.Nowadays,the concept,vision,and path of global history affect all fields of historiography,including regional history.A key perspective of valuable work devoted to furthering regional history is to take a whole vision from an intellectual stance,and thereby to incorporate it into the framework of observation and analysis on a global scale.Such a revisit of late imperial Jiangnan history can shed a novel light on the advancements of both regional history and historical studies in general.
