摘　　要：儿童文学翻译以少年儿童为目标读者,是塑造年轻一代国族意识的重要途径。《儿童乐园》是香港地区刊期最久且最受欢迎的儿童文学读物,在英国殖民式统治下,刊物编辑借助外国童书译介,对国族意识培育进行了有益尝试。本文聚焦刊物20世纪70年代的翻译作品,探求在复杂局势下刊物如何定位翻译理念、传递出怎样的国族意识内涵,以及如何实现预期目标。研究发现,刊物在民族危机时刻寓育于译,寄望培养有利于中华民族复兴的新一代。文本方面,刊物对原文异质性进行编译、节译、转译,把中国的伦理、习俗和历史等核心文化因子融入译文,进而将国族意识导向文化维度的认同和归属。然而,刊物翻译在国家政情和意识形态教育方面的缺失,难以培育儿童全面的国家认同。对《儿童乐园》翻译的回望和反思,为儿童文学翻译的国族意识培育贡献史实和教训,也为当下香港地区童书翻译提供可资借鉴的经验。Translation of children's literature,targeting young readers,plays a pivotal role in shaping national consciousness in the younger generation.Children's Paradise(CP),the longest-running and most popular children's magazine in Hong Kong region under British colonial rule,made significant efforts to cultivate national consciousness through translations of foreign books for children.Focusing on CP's translated works from the 1970s,this paper explores how the magazine navigated its translation philosophy,the specific aspects of national consciousness it sought to impart,and how it achieved the intended goals amid a complex sociopolitical landscape.The study reveals that,in times of national crisis,CP's translations aimed to nurture a new generation expected to achieve the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.By incorporating core Chinese cultural elements of ethics,customs,and history into the translated texts through various techniques,CP strengthened the cultural dimension of national consciousness,instilling a deep sense of identity and belonging to Chinese culture.However,the absence of political and ideological education in CP's translations limited their effectiveness in forging a comprehensive national identity.A critical reflection on CP's translations offers historical insights and lessons for the cultivation of national consciousness in translation of children's literature,providing useful references for contemporary translations for children in Hong Kong region.
