摘　　要：希尔达·基恩是当代英国著名的历史学家。基恩早期主要从事公共史学研究,尤其关注用以纪念动物的物理空间。她认为这些空间不仅遮蔽了动物的真实处境,而且其在本质上不过是人类自身价值观的投射。在动物史的实践中,基恩一方面尝试解析动物权利。她指出动物权利不只是简单的道德考量,更是中产阶级用以巩固自身地位和阶级边界的行为符号;另一方面,基恩试图重构战争叙事。这种将动物纳入战争叙事的做法,在一定程度上影响了人们对二战的既有认识。基恩的研究表明,动物史给历史学带来的机遇与挑战并存。Hilda Kean is a renowned contemporary British historian.Kean's early research concentrated on public history,with a particular interest in the physical spaces that commemorate animals.She posits the argument that these spaces essentially represent projections of human values,thereby obscuring the real-life of animals.In her practice of animal history,Kean seeks to analyse animal rights,positing that these were not only a simple moral consideration,but also a symbol of behaviour used by the middle class to consolidate its status and class boundaries.Kean,on the other hand,tries to reconstruct war narratives.This practice of including animals in war narratives has,to some extent,influenced people's existing understanding of World War II.Kean's research demonstrates that animal history offers both opportunities and challenges for history.
