摘 要:2024年9月22日,著名批评家、思想家弗雷德里克·詹姆逊因病去世。作为他四十多年的朋友,本文为纪念他而作。文章分三部分。第一部分主要概述他的经典著作《政治无意识》的论点和方法。第二部分梳理他的思想发展:60年代的反保守传统;70年代中期他综合多种思想理论形成自己的观点,提出文学叙事是一种象征行为,具有政治无意识的特征;80年代后期,他转向文化研究,写出了著名的《后现代主义,或晚期资本主义的文化逻辑》,重点探讨后现代的社会文化特征。他一直坚持辩证的和总体化的解释方法,既有相对统一的理论框架,又有开放的总体性。第三部分叙述他未完成的事业:揭露资本主义的内在矛盾,寻求一个可以代替它的社会制度。This paper is written in memory of Fredric Jameson, a great critic and theorist and a good friend of mine for over 40 years, who passed away on September 22,2024. It consists of three parts. First, a brief summary of his classic work The Political Unconscious. Second, tracing the development of his thought: in 1960s, he fought against the conservative tradition;in mid-1970s, he absorbed various theories and developed his own, proposing the concept that literary narrative is a socially symbolic act, which has the feature of the political unconscious;in the late 1980s, he turned to Cultural Studies and published his famous work Postmodernism, or, the Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism, which focuses on the cultural characteristics of postmodern society. Jameson always maintained dialectics and totalization as his methodology in interpreting text, with a coherent theoretical framework and an open totality as well. And third, a description of his unfinished work: to expose the inner contractions of capitalism and to seek a social system to replace it.
