数字人文视域下汉文佛典英译史的特征、困境与建议

摘　　要：汉文佛典不但是华夏民族的精神宝藏,而且是人类文明的珍贵遗产。佛教发端于古代印度,经由翻译这一途径,在中国落地生根,后又随译本传播至英语世界。英译本汉文佛典珍贵文献出版量较少,加之年代久远而多有散佚,导致此类文献记录稀少,仅散见于佛学研究和佛教修行机构网站,难以呈现汉文佛典英译史的整体面貌。目前,学界对佛典英译关注度低,成果有限且缺乏系统性,该领域的知识体系和学术定位亟待明确,以与其重要的文化价值相契合。本文基于数字人文理念,整理1831—2023年出版的1206种汉文佛典英译本信息,将出版趋势、部类分布和译本数量等特征进行可视化呈现,对翻译路径、版本体系和出版媒介等方面的现状进行反思并提出相应的对策建议,以期助力中华典籍对外传播和中国特色哲学社会科学话语体系建设。The Chinese Buddhist canon constitutes a spiritual treasure of theChinese nation and an invaluable heritage of global civilization.Originating fromancient India,Buddhism was disseminated through translations and took deep rootsin China,subsequently spreading to English-speaking countries through translatedtexts.However,the publication and distribution of these precious Chinese Buddhistdocuments are limited,with some being lost over time due to their antiquity.Records are fragmented and scattered across the websites of Buddhist research andpractice institutions,making it challenging to present a comprehensive overview ofthe English translations of the Chinese Buddhist canon.The academic communityhas paid little attention to its English translations,resulting in limited andunsystematic research publications.This necessitates a clear knowledge system andacademic positioning that matches their significant cultural value.This study,grounded in the paradigm of digital humanities,systematically organizes informationon 1,206 English translations of the Chinese Buddhist canon published between1831 and 2023 and visually presents its features in terms of publication,categorization,and translated versions.The paper proposes strategies to address thecurrent predicaments from the perspectives of translation pathways,bibliographicsystems,and publishing media,aiming to aid in the international dissemination ofChinese classics and the construction of discourse surrounding characteristicChinese philosophy.
