摘 要:徽州《春园采茶词》被誉为近代中国东学西渐的一个“典型范例”。《春园采茶词》于19世纪被译成英文,在英语世界广泛传播,并产生了深远影响。文章以文化翻译学理论为基础,从词语文化素、词组文化素、句子文化素、超句体文化素、文本文化素几个层面,讨论《春园采茶词》茂叟译本和德庇时译本在原文文化素方面的英译情况。总体而言,两位译者在某些地方的翻译处理并不尽善尽美,文化移除、文化适应、文化移入三种文化翻译策略的运用值得商榷,受客观原因和历史局限影响,徽州《春园采茶词》英译文本的品质还有进一步提升的空间。Huizhou's Chunyuan Caicha Ci(Spring Garden Tea-Picking Lyrics)stands as“a seminal exemplar”of East-West cultural exchange in modern China's intellectual history.Translated into English during the 19th century,this poetic work achieved remarkable dissemination across Anglophone societies,exerting enduring cultural influence.Drawing upon on the theory of Cultranslatology,this investigation conducts a stratified analysis of cultural transference in the English renditions by Williams Thomas Mercer and John Francis Davis,examining five dimensions of culturemes:lexical,phrasal,sentential,suprasentential,and textual.The comparative study reveals that while both translators demonstrated particular strengths,their approaches exhibit discernible limitations in handling specific culturemes.The implementation of core Cultranslatology strategies—cultural removal,cultural adaptation,and cultural transplantation—presents arguable methodological choices that warrant critical re-examination.These translational compromises,attributable to objective historical constraints,nevertheless highlight potential for enhanced cross-cultural representation.
