Vascular dementia(VD),as a common type of dementia, significantly reduces patients’quality of life and increases socioeconomic burden. In recent years, with the in-depth study of the pathogenesis of VD,it has been found that a variety of signaling pathways, such as PI3K/Akt,NF-κB,Notch,and MAPK are involved in its pathological process.Traditional Chinese medicine has accumulated rich experience in the prevention and treatment of VD,and numerous studies have shown that traditional Chinese medicine can regulate the related signaling pathways through multi-targets and multi-links to exert neuroprotective,anti-apoptotic,anti-inflammatory,and anti-oxidative stress effects. This article summarizes the relationship between VD and related signaling pathways and the mechanisms of traditional Chinese medicine in regulating VD-related pathways and their counterparts in recent years, with the aim of providing references for future clinical and experimental studies on VD.
