清代广州府乡村社会多元主体的禁赌研究

摘　　要：赌博是清代以来广州府的一大突出社会现象。赌博的屡禁不止也体现出官府对地方社会控制日趋减弱。晚清战乱频仍,巨大的军费开支迫使清政府弛禁赌博,广州府官员更加难以治理地方的赌博问题。广州府乡村赌博的屡禁不止也与广州城四散流布的奢侈之风密切相关。而地方精英凭借国家公权力的背书或者自身的强制性权力弥补了公权力在赌博纠禁问题上的缺位。这使得广州府的乡村赌博与禁赌体现出其鲜明的地域性特征。通过对现存的广东禁赌碑刻资料的研究可知,地方乡绅、宗族乃至秘密社会等不同主体都提出禁赌章程,并且采取不同的禁赌方法,但是这些主体的禁赌措施和威慑力仍不及官府。Gambling had been a prominent social phenomenon in Guangzhou Prefecture since Qing Dynasty.The repeated prohibition of gambling also reflects the weakening control of the government over local society.During late Qing Dynasty,frequent wars and huge military expenditures forced Qing government to lift the ban on gambling,making it even more difficult for officials in Guangzhou Prefecture to deal with local gambling issues.The persistent gambling in rural areas of Guangzhou Prefecture was also closely related to the spread of luxurious life style in Guangzhou city.Local elites have compensated for the absence of public power in the prohibition of gambling by relying on the endorsement of state public power or their own coercive power.This has made the gambling and prohibition of gambling in rural areas of Guangzhou Prefecture take on distinct regional characteristics.Through the study of the existing anti-gambling inscriptions on the stele in Guangdong,it is known that different subjects such as local gentry,clans,and even secret societies had all put forward anti-gambling regulations and adopted various anti-gambling methods.However,the anti-gambling measures and deterrent power of these subjects still couldn't match those of the government.
