摘　　要：　引喻是语言中一种生动、简洁有效的表现手段,是借用历史上或传说中的典故来暗示当今类似的人或事的一种修辞。它包含着极为丰富的文化内涵,并具有丰满的意象效果。20世纪的经济、文学、科技、体育、艺术等社会生活的各个方面给英语以新的滋养,对英语引喻产生深刻影响。An allusion is a vivid and effective rhetoric, which implies nowadays people or matter with historic events and legends. It involves rich cultural content and carries plentiful connotation. This paper discusses the cultural influence on language, the use of English allusions of the 20th century in economy?literature?science and technology?sports?cultural life and film-video entertainment, and traces the allusive source of the 20th century. 
