摘　　要：文章扼要地介绍了数学不等式理论及其应用的意义、历史、现状、发展、地位和作用 ,包括不等式理论发展过程中的重要事件、不等式理论的哲学、不等式理论方面的最新著作、 2 0世纪末的最后几年创刊的数学不等式理论及其应用领域的专业杂志、在澳大利亚创建的学术团体RGMIA的情况介绍等。In the paper, the author briefly states the meaning, history, status quo, development,status, and influence of Theory of Mathematical Inequalities and its applications, including important affairs in its developing process, philosophy of inequalities, new books published recently, journals established in the last years of the 20th century, introduction to Research Group in Mathematical Inequalities and Applications established in Australia, and the like.
