s: Objective To investigate the cortical localization of hand complex movement in normal subjects. Methods T1W imaging from six alternating epochs of rest and active by seven subjects were collected with echoplanar imaging bolding sequence on a 1.5T SIEMENS scanner. Differential maps acquired by t-test were added to T1W structure imaging. Results Significant active signal was located in the primary motor area (Broadman 4) of the contralateral precentral gyrus, and contralateral or bilateral supplementary motor area (SMA) was also activated with seven subjects performing grasping movements. Premotor area was activated in two subjects, and motor cortex of ipsilateral precentral gyrus was activated in three cases. Three-dimension reconstruction demonstrated active signal of primary motor area were mostly located at the middle-lateral surface of the contralateral central sulcus, and signal of supplementary area were located at the mesial surface of the premotor area (Broadman 6). Conclusion Cerebral cortical motor network was extensively activated during hand complex movement in normal subjects. Active signal of functional magnetic resonance imaging reflected the activity of brain high function.
