Objective:Human tissue factor pathway inhibitor-2(TFPI-2) is a serine protease inhibitor, which is important to maintain the integrity of extracellular matrix and regulate the migration and invasion of tumor. The correlation between TFPI-2 and the malignancy of pancreatic carcinoma was established after detected the expression of TFPI-2 level in pancreatic carcinoma and based for clinical prognosis and subsequent gene therapy of pancreatic carcinoma. Methods:Expression level of TFPI-2 in 8 normal and 20 cancerous/juxta-cancerous pancreas were textified with Western Blot and RT-PCR.Expression density of TFPI-2 in each group was analyzed with HPIAS image analyzer and compared with t test, the correlation between the expression level of TFPI-2 and malignancy was tested with Kruskal-Wallis test. Results:The expression level of TFPI-2 decreased along with the increase of malignancy, and there was a significantly negative correlation between TFPI-2 and malignancy. Conclusion:There is negative correlation between TFPI-2 and the malignancy of pancreatic carcinoma. It is suggested that TFPI-2 should be a prognostic factor and a novel approach for gene therapy.
