摘　　要：沈从文是寻根文学的先锋作家,具有强烈的寻根意识。在都市和乡村的对比中,他发现了都市人病态的品性和湘西边民健康的人格。为此,他从湘西边民的人性人情、风景民俗入手,努力在原生态的湘西世界中,去发掘积淀在我们民族文化中的优良品质,借以重造民族精神品格,将鲁迅等现代作家对国民性的探讨推进了一大步,对当代寻根文学作家产生了深远的影响。这正是湘西小说深层的文化意蕴所在。Shen Congwen, who has a strong sense of seeking origin, is a pioneering writer of literature of seeking the origin. By comparison and contrast between the urban and the rural, he found the morbid character of the urban inhabitants and the healthy character of the people in western Hunan. So, from the Hunan nature and human feelings of people in western Hunan, a primitive ecological place, he tried to explore the fine qualities precipitated in our national culture. In this way, national spirit could be rebuilt. He carried forward the probe, advocated by such contemporary writer as Luxun, into nationality, which made a deep influence on contemporary literature of seeking the origin.
