摘　　要：TG理论是美国著名语言学家乔姆斯基20世纪50年代所创立的一种崭新的语言学说,是当今语言学界最具影响力的两大语言学流派之一。TG以理性为基础,在语言教学中提倡推理和思维,反对传统的行为结构主义教学法所倡导的机械模仿和对语法规则的死记硬背。简述TG理论的发展历程及TG理论的哲学和理论基础,用实例从不同的角度展示该理论在英语教学中的诸多优势。TG theory is a brand-new theory founded by Noam Chomsky, a very famous Americanlinguist, in 1950s. It is one of the two most influential linguistic schools in the present world.Based upon rationalism, TG theory advocates inference and reasoning, thus opposing the rigidimitation and the mechanical memorizing of the grammatical rules of the target language, which were initiated by the traditional methodology of behaviorist structuralism. After a brief review of TG's developing history and its theoretical and philosophical foundations, this article, from different angles, has illustrated the advantages of TG theory used in English teaching through concrete examples.
