摘 要:本文基于萨义德“东方主义”的理论框架,探究传统东方主义话语机制的内涵,以及其对影视作品人物形象塑造及视听翻译的影响。视听翻译,尤其是字幕翻译,并不局限于对语言文本的翻译,也包括对声音、画面,甚至是视听作品中人物形象的多模态解读。本文基于多模态话语分析的理论框架,探讨了美剧中对东方人物形象的塑造是否依然延续传统东方主义的话语建构逻辑,以及其在视听翻译文本中的转换等问题。在此基础上,本文还试图解构西方人眼中对东方和东方人的刻板印象,以颠覆西方主导与东方服从的既定关系,重塑东方形象。Based on the theoretical framework of Said’s “Orientalism”, this paper explores the connotation of the discourse mechanism of traditional Orientalism and how the discourse has an influence on image construction in audiovisual materials and on audiovisual translation. Audiovisual translation, and in particular subtitling, is not limited to the translation of verbal language, but also includes multimodal interpretation of sounds, pictures, and even characters in audiovisual materials. This paper, based on the theoretical framework of multimodal discourse analysis, explores whether the portrayal of oriental characters in American dramas still extends the construction of Orientalism discourse, and how the Oriental images are presented in audiovisual translated texts. On this basis, this paper attempts to deconstruct the stereotype of the Orient in the eyes of Westerners, in order to subvert the established relationship between Western dominance and Oriental obedience, and reshape the image of the Oriental.
