《孽子》英译本中译者的把关行为探析

摘  要:1990年,台湾作家白先勇的代表小说《孽子》经由葛浩文翻译并在英语世界出版,收获了一批英文读者。译者作为翻译中的“把关人”,在文本内外两个层面是如何对原文内容把关的呢?这一过程中,指导译者对信息进行筛选处理的原则是什么?整体上看,葛浩文在《孽子》一书翻译中的把关行为以译入语读者需求为原则,很大程度上顺应了译入语社会价值观。文本之外,葛浩文通过选择译介作品、辅助译作传播满足读者需要;文本之内,葛浩文则采取信息简化、信息增补与信息转换的方式帮助读者理解原作。In 1990, translated by Howard Goldblatt, Taiwan writer Pai Hsien-yung’s representative novel Crystal Boys entered the English world successfully and gained a number of English readers. As a “gatekeeper” in translation, how does the translator select information in the original beyond and within the text? During this process, what is the basic guiding principle? On the whole, Howard Goldblatt as a gatekeeper in the translation of Crystal Boys is target-oriented mainly, which largely conforms to the social values of the target culture. Beyond the text, Howard Goldblatt meets the needs of readers by selecting the original and assisting the dissemination of the translated work;within the text, the translator helps readers understand the original work by simplifying, supplementing, and conversing information.
