摘 要:翻译的过程是一种选择的过程,特别是在文学翻译领域,一方面“忠实”是评判译文质量的基本原则之一,另一方面在翻译过程中由于译者主体性的发挥和将原作代入新的文化背景下,不免产生新的创造性成果,有时还会出现“创造性叛逆”的情况,多年来学术界就翻译时应选择“忠实”还是“创造”展开讨论。然而,“忠实”与“创造”并不相悖,恰当的“创造性”发挥往往对提升译文的忠实度和质量有着关键作用。此要点在《德伯家的苔丝》张谷若译本中有深刻体现,以此为切入点深入剖析忠实性与灵活创造性结合的翻译艺术。The process of translation is a selection process, especially in the field of literary translation. On the one hand, “faithfulness” serves as one of the basic principles for judging the quality of translation. On the other hand, translators always create new achievements due to their subjectivity and the new cultural background,and sometimes “creative treason” also occurs. For many years, academics have been discussing about whether to choose “faithfulness” or “creativity” in translation. However, “faithfulness” and “creativity” are not contrary to each other. Instead, an appropriate level of “creativity” often plays an imperative role in enhancing the fidelity and quality of translations. This point is deeply reflected in the translation of Tess of the D’Urbervilles by Zhang Guruo, which can be a starting point for an in-depth analysis of the art of translation that combines fidelity with creativity.
