Based on the American Modern and Contemporary Corpus (COCA) and Chinese Learners’ English Corpus (CLEC), this paper compares and analyzes the behavioral characteristics of native speakers and Chinese learners’ use of “angry”. The results show that the usage of “angry” are different in grammatical elements, noun collocation and preposition collocation between English native speakers and Chinese learners. Through comparative analysis, it can be concluded that the reason for the difference between the two is generally due to learners’ insufficient understanding and familiarity with the syntactic and semantic feature of “angry” and otherwise the influence of Chinese language and cultural habits. This article adopts the interlanguage analysis method, which is helpful to deepen learners’ overall understanding of the word “angry”, help them avoid some misuses of the word in writing, and provide some inspiration for the teaching of English adjectives.
