摘 要:《野草》是鲁迅的重要作品之一,其翻译质量直接影响了国际文坛对鲁迅及其作品的认识。杨宪益、戴乃迭夫妇翻译的版本是目前最为通行和权威的《野草》英译本,其中《我的失恋》这首拟古打油诗因体例特殊、修辞灵活,集中反映了杨、戴译本中存在的各种翻译问题,包括但不限于对原诗“仿拟”特征的还原度不够、对原诗尾节末行的“突降”处理不当以及对“豪家”这个象征性词汇的翻译不当等。本文从修辞的角度对这些翻译问题进行了分析,并通过改良版译文呈现了可能的解决办法。“Wild Grass” is one of the important works of Lu Xun, and its translation quality has a direct impact on the international literary world’s understanding of Lu Xun and his works. The version translated by Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang is the most popular and authoritative English translation of “Wild Grass” at present. Among them, the ancient doggerel “My Lost Love” reflects various translation problems in Yang’s translation because of its special style and flexible rhetoric. Including but not limited to the inadequate restoration of the “imitation” features of the original poem, the improper handling of the “anticlimax” of the last line of the original poem and the improper translation of the symbolic word “豪家” (a wealthy family). This paper analyzes these translation errors from a rhetorical perspective and presents possible solutions through a modified translation.
