摘  要:厄普顿·辛克莱对20世纪30年代中国的文学创作和理论建构产生了重要影响。研究这一时段中国的美国文学接受史,辛克莱是一个不可忽视的角色。在政治场和文学场急遽分化的时代语境中,不同倾向的中国文人对辛克莱的认知呈现出显著差异,也构建出了多元的辛克莱形象。国民党官方因辛克莱政治立场激进,视其为极端危险分子,严禁其作品翻译和流通。梁实秋、胡适等自由主义文人,也无法认同辛克莱的政治取向和创作理念。尽管左翼阵营积极参与了辛克莱译介,但具体评价时呈现出些许话语分歧,构建出的辛克莱形象也不尽相同。Upton Sinclairhad a profound impact on China’s literary composition and its theoretical construction in the 1930 s,so he needs to be taken into serious account when it comes to a survey of China’s reception of American literature.In the context of political and literary field splitting drastically,China’s intellectuals with different inclinations understood Sinclair differently and correspondingly constructed the multiple images of him.For the radicalism of his thoughts,KMT government took him as a subversive and prohibited the translation and dissemination of his works.Such liberals as Hu Shi and Liang Shiqiu disapproved of his political inclination and literary ideas as well.In spite of introducing him enthusiastically on the whole,the leftists demonstrated the slightly differential mode of evaluating him and thus endowed him with different images.
