摘 要:学界大多认为诺贝尔奖获得者艾·辛格在美国题材小说中渲染大屠杀幸存者的疏离情感和悲观情绪,这种观点忽略了辛格对于流散者文化身份建构主体意识的表达。本文认为,辛格的创作始终传递着流散民族主义思想,并体现在《冤家——一个爱情故事》等作品中:主人公们在交谈中将个人创伤记忆纳入民族历史,通过阅读意第绪语报纸想象民族集体记忆,并借助民族节日展演民族文化记忆。辛格审视与挖掘流散者积极的日常生活实践,揭橥其建构民族记忆的过程,展现普通人与民族共同体的多重互动,彰显犹太人的民族命运自觉意识。Enemies:A Love Story by Isaac Bashevis Singer,which won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1978,is usually considered to have reflected the Holocaust survivors’feelings of being isolated from the American society and their pessimistic attitude toward the future,which ignores Singer’s expression of diaspora’s subject consciousness of cultural identity construction.This paper,based on the close reading of the text of Enemies:A Love Story,attempts to explore how the self-awareness of Jewish national destiny is expounded by Singer,whose characters construct the national trauma community through combining their personal traumatic experience with the disastrous Holocaust,keep in touch with more members of Jewish communities through reading Yiddish newspapers,and retain their cultural identities by celebrating traditional festivals with national recipes and traditional rituals.It is concluded that Singer’s emphasis on the self-awareness of national destiny inspires both the individuals and national communities to keep their national uniqueness in the global cultural contact of the 21st century.
