摘　　要：叶芝作为后期象征主义的代表,其作品的现代性却颇具争议。分析叶芝作品的浪漫主义抒情传统,并结合其象征主义的发展和面具理论的应用,可以看到叶芝不断追求自我创新的现代性。Yeats,though representative of post-symbolism and having indisputable influence on modernism,has sparkled a controversy over the modernity of his works.The paper first points out the underlying relationship between romanticism and modernism in order to delve into Yeats'romantic tradition.In addition,it approaches Yeats'modernity by expounding the development of his symbolism and mask theory.
