摘　　要：在自然界或是社会领域,事物的发展大都经历了由自发到自觉的过程。一般说来,事物自发的变化是由事物的内因所引起的,自发成分正是自觉的萌芽状态。同样的,世界最早大学的诞生,是由于社会发展到一定阶段,知识积累到一定程度,社会出现了对人才的需要,于是大学就应时而生。我们研究大学的起源,目的是考察大学产生的背景,探讨早期大学的特征,比较中西早期大学的差异,并进而总结出指导我国高等教育改革与发展所必须借鉴的宝贵经验。In the natural and social scopes,there has generally been a process of matter from spontaneity to self-consciousness. Generally speaking,the spontaneous change is evoked by the inner cause of a matter and the spontaneous elements are just the seed of self-consciousness.
