摘　　要：本文运用定量研究的方法,通过对陕南三市(汉中市、安康市、商洛市)中的十所乡镇中学校近千名留守儿童外语学习动机的调查进行分析,试图探讨留守儿童这一特殊学生群体外语学习的动机取向以及他们在不同动机类型中的表现差异,帮助乡镇中学校的外语教师更好地指导留守儿童的外语学习,推动基础外语教学的改革和发展。Based on the quantitative study of the left-behind children in the ten rural middle schools sampled from different parts of the three cities(Hanzhong,Ankang,and Shangluo) in the south of Shaanxi province,this paper attempts to explore their motivational orientation and the difference among the different types of motivation in their foreign language learning.And the study is expected to contribute something to the local foreign language teachers in their teaching of the left-behind children and to promote the reform and development of foreign language teaching in the basic education.
