摘　　要：耆那教是印度最古老的宗教之一,教徒自称该教是“永恒的宗教”,相传教主大雄(原名筏驮摩那)是第二十四祖,在他之前已有二十三祖,在耆那教的文献中曾赋予每一位祖师不同的名称、色彩和标帜,如一祖名勒舍婆那陀或称阿底那陀,金色,以公牛为标帜;六祖名巴特摩巴罗波,红色,以红莲为标帜;十九祖名摩利那陀,金色(裸体派)或蓝色(白衣派),以水罐为标帜。其他各祖有白色、绿色等,所用标帜多为动物,为马、猴、蛇、鹿、This article contains an exposition of Jain philosophy and creeds, an acc-ount of the vicissitudes of Jainism in history and a description of the present-day life of the fold. It points out that the uniqueness of philosophy and thesternness of discipline have been an obstacle to the religion's wider spread.
