摘 要:(一) 龟兹石窟群中有相当数量的中心柱窟和少量的方彤窟,保存着乾闼婆故事的壁画。(见图版一至六)乾闼婆是佛教艺术中引人注目的形象,几乎遍布各地石窟,然而乾闼婆故事的壁画,在龟兹以外的石窟中,尚属罕见。乾闼婆的故事画。In kucha Grottoes there are quite a number of caves in which Gandharva story-Murals are preserved. These murals make a particularly characteristic part of kucha Buddhist arts. Gandharva story-Murals in kucha Grottoes mainly fall into two categories: one is about Brahma persuading a Gandharva to play a kind of stringed musical instrument, the other is about Buddha saving the soul of the King Gandharva of Love and Favor. The first story indicates the beginning of Buddha's cause of preaching to save people's souls, while the second is about the last soul of heavenly beings saved by Buddha before his Nirvana. The two tales represent the whole course of Buddha's life enterprise of preaching and saving. They are presented in the form of musical dances. This is a very special way of narrating such a significant theme. The spread of Gandharva Story-Murals mirrors the believes of sarvastivada in Hinayana Buddhism as well as politics and culture in Qiuzi. Exploring this topic can be of value for studies in the fields of the history of Buddhism in kucha, the evolution of Gandharva images and the origins of chinese Buddhist music.
