Notes on the Rebuilding of Tang Royal Tea Factory

摘　　要：第十届国际茶文化研讨会暨湖州(长兴)首届陆羽茶文化节将于今年五月在浙江省湖州市长兴县举办。届时,我国第一座皇家茶厂——重建的大唐贡茶院将正式举行落成庆典,并供游客参观。顾渚山紫笋茶文化是中华茶文化历史宝库中一颗最为璀璨的明珠,是漫长而又辉煌的茶文化历史进程中的第一座里程碑。The Tenth International Tea Culture Symposium and the First Zhejiang Huzhou Lu Yu Tea Culture Festival will open at Changxing of Zhejiang province in May this year. At that time, the newly-rebuilt Tang Royal Tea Factory, also the first imperial tea factory in Chinese history, will be unveiled and open for public visit. More than 1200 years ago, Guzhu Zisun Tea, made and named by Lu Yu, the famous Tea Sage, was dedicated as a tribute to the emperor, and thereafter came the first imperial tea factory in China. Covering more than 100 mu, the rebuilt Tang Tribute Tea Factory has a building area of 18000 square meters. The whole project was divided into 3 phases, and after two and a half years’ hard work, the first two phases will soon be completed this May. Built along the hillside, with the concept of "rebuilding it as it was", the Tang-style wooden construction looks spectacular and magnificent. With primitive and elegant pillars and railings, majestic and imposing towers and pavilions, the whole architectural complex seems to have gone through millennium vicissitudes and become part of the natural landscape. The exhibitions in the Royal Tea Factory not only pass on the heritage of Chinese history, but also embody the new spirit of contemporary society.
