摘　　要：指称辨别功能和历史文化意义的昭示或提示功能应该是带有文化因子的地名的两种基本功能,在汉英翻译过程中,这两种功能应该能在目的语中得到再现,而不应该遭到消解,这样才有助于实现地名英译的目的。Reference plus differentiation and the display of historic and cultural elements ought to be the two basic functions for culture-loaded geographical names.Such functions are to be conveyed into the target language rather than be eliminated in the process of C-E translation,so as to accomplish the objective of this particular publicity-oriented translation.
